MIA for a little bit…

Hello!

Just a head’s up that I’ve been a bit quiet on the blogging front as I’m in the process of revamping my blog.

I’ll be back to (hopefully) regular posting soon.

If you have any features you want added or suggestions please leave me a comment below.

Thanks πŸ™‚

Shameless Nepotism…

I just found out that one of my awesome friends A, or Achowchow as she goes by on blogger, has a blog of her own and I was so excited that of course I had to share! Most of my friends aren’t very interested by the blogging thing and so it’s great to finally have someone who gets the addiction that blogging can become!

Her blog is called ‘The Irrepressible Food Baby’ and it’s a fashion/foodie blog. Strange mix I know but if there’s two things this girl knows it’s fashion and where to get some of the best food in Melbourne!

She has a really individual sense of style and her outfits are usually a mix of vintage finds and designer pieces. She is definitely one of the most confident people I know so I think she looks amazing no matter what she wears because she always does it with a very self assured air. She’s so down-to-earth as well so I know she’d gladly answer any questions/comments.

I know how hard it is to start getting followers when you’re starting out a blog so it would be so great if you could check out her blog and follow her if you like what you see. No pressure… well maybe a bit of pressure πŸ˜€

I especially love this post on MAC Candy Yum-Yum lipstick from the Quite Cute collection because, well I’m addicted to bright pink lippies! I didn’t plan on picking up anything from Quite Cute but her lip swatch definitely had me changing my mind! I know makeup isn’t her main thing but I definitely think she should start adding a few makeup posts in because her lips were definitely made for lip swatches πŸ˜€

Makeup by Sara-May’s ‘May 2011 FOTD Challenge’

Sara-May from ‘Makeup by Sara-May’ has challenged herself to post a FOTD every weekday for the whole month of May. All of you bloggers know how much of a commitment that is and I applaud her for deciding to do it.

She’s also calling all bloggers who want to join her on this challenge. I know it sounds like a lot of work so if you feel like 5 FOTD’s/EOTD’s is too much then you can commit to 1 a week or 2 a week but the whole point is to stay consistent.

I think this is an awesome idea and decided to join in on the challenge but 5 EOTD’s is way too much for me! I do want to get more frequent with my posting though so I’m giving myself the challenge of 5 posts a week with 2 of them per week being EOTD’s.

Sara-May has posted up a calendar with all the planned looks she’ll be doing but I’m no where near as organised so I think I’m just going to go with what feels right at the time. With the 3 non-EOTD posts I want to start getting back to doing product reviews and swatches because I’ve been slacking on those these last few months.

So anyone interested in joining in the challenge? It’s a great way to try and motivate yourself if you haven’t really felt like blogging lately but more than anything it’s just a bit of fun! If you are interested, click this link (saramay.com.au)and leave a comment on the post letting Sara-May know that you want to join the challenge. After that just start posting and include a link to her original post in your posts.

I really hope some of you decide to take up the challenge as well πŸ˜€

A Roundup of Recent Posts From Around the Blogosphere

I’ve been under the weather the last few days and I just haven’t been able to muster up the energy to try out any new EOTD’s or swatch/review products. I still really wanted to write up a post though so I thought I’d do a round up of recent posts from some of my favourite blogs:

Cami from Cami Loves Kiwi discovers and falls in love with Becca’s Lip and Cheek Creme in Tuberose. I don’t own Tuberose yet but the Becca cream blushes are the best I’ve used.

Clare from CClarebear.com shows how to rock a glossy smokey eye. I haven’t tried this look yet because I usually hate creasing but Clare makes it look really edgy but pretty so I think I’ll have to give it a go!

Dempeaux from dempeaux.com tries out some Ellis Faas stuff and is impressed with what she sees!

Heather from Eyeconic Makeup rocks a classic FOTD proving that black liner and red lips are a classic combo for a reason!

Emily from Emily’s Anthology shows us her slept in FOTD. I might consider sleeping with my makeup on if I was guaranteed to look that good πŸ˜‰

Alicia from FunnyFace Beauty shares her March favourites which includes the ever elusive (for me at least) Urban Decay Naked Palette.

Ki from Ki and Makeup posts up swatches from indie brand Brazen, convincing me yet again that I really need to pay more attention to the indie makeup brands out there.

Tara from Keeping up with me relays all the fun and goodies she received from the Sydney Beauty Bloggers Meet and Product Swap. Can you sense my envy all the way from Melbourne πŸ˜‰

Michelle from Lipstick Rules taunts us with her gorgeous collection of YSL Rouge Volupte lipsticks πŸ™‚ This is one lip product that I need to try asap!

Jen from My Funny Valentine creates yet another lemming for me by showing us Lancome’s Ombre Absolue Radiant Smoothing Eye Shadow in Erika F!

Jennifer from Spiced Beauty begins her series of posts on foundations beginning with cult favourite Make Up For Ever’s HD foundation.

Michelle from Widdlesh Does Makeup rocks a yellow EOTD that is really funky but wearable.

And if you’re looking for inspiration for your fitness and weight loss goals then check out the progress of:

Aseya from Pretty in the Desert and

Arianne from Glitter Geek

as they continue on their journeys for a healthier ‘me’ (well, them..) you know what I mean!

1 year bloggerversary!

I started my blog one year ago today and I can’t believe how far it’s come! When I started I didn’t think anybody would want to read it and I kept harrasing my friends to check out my blog and now… well I still harrass my friends to check out my blog but at least I can write a post and know that at least other people take the time to read it even if my friends don’t πŸ™‚

I was looking over my early posts and after I stopped myself from cringing at my writing style, my photo taking and shameful EOTD’s, I thought that recreating one of these EOTD’s would be a good way to mark my one year blogging. The look I decided to recreate was my first attempt at an EOTD and it was supposed to be my introduction into using darker eyeshadows. It’s actually not a great look and I would never transition a black shadow straight into such a light colour like I did here but I thought I’d give it another go.

I fully understand if looking at the first pictures I took causes you to laugh because even I cracked up when I saw them πŸ˜€ I mean that first picture of my eye is creepy to say the least and I have no idea why my lashes look so odd! Lol, I was also obviously using a flash that was way too bright and my application skills were definitely lacking!

EOTD 1 year ago:

EOTD today(Lol it’s still not the greatest look but I think it’s definitely a vast improvement!):

This last year has really helped me hone my makeup skills, and even though I have a lot left to learn, I think I’ve definitely improved. I also think my blogging style has improved alot and my picture taking is definitely much better! Hopefully a year from now I’ll have learned even more and I’ll look back on these pictures and see how far I’ve come.

Thank you to all of you who take/have taken the time to follow, read and comment on my blog because it always makes my day πŸ™‚ You guys are awesome and I truly appreciate all of your support! I’m hoping to get back into blogging more often once the chaos my life currently is quitens down and I have more time and energy to focus on posting regularly.

If you have any suggestions/feedback on how I can improve my blog or what you want to see more or less of, please leave a comment below.

Hope you’re all having a great week!

Give me your requests!

I’ve been a bit quiet on the blogging front lately and it’s mostly because I haven’t had a lot of time but it’s also because I’m a bit lacking in inspiration at the moment.

Seeing as I’ve gotten myself into a bit of a blogging rut, I thought I’d put it to all of you to see if you had any requests on products you wanted reviewed, looks you wanted to see or any how to posts etc.

I also wanted to know if anyone would be interested in reviews of makeup books. I love buying makeup books but I found it really hard to find reviews on them so let me know if you’d like me to start doing some.

Also for all you bloggers out there, how do you balance work and blogging? Do you have a specific day of the week you do your posts or do you just blog when the mood takes you?

I’d appreciate any feedback/suggestions so please leave me a comment below πŸ™‚
