~Grunge FOTD~ Antipodean Beauties Challenge

It’s been quite a while since I’ve taken part in one of the Antipodean Beauties challenges but I was a child of the 90’s so I had to give the grunge challenge a go! I’m planning to participate more as the weeks go on and I’ve missed trying new looks every week!

I mainly used the Sleek Storm palette to do the eye makeup and smoked my eyes out as much as I could. The shades I used are (from left to right): MAC Blackground Paint Pot, Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Gel Eyeliner, Sleek Storm Pallette (dark brown, Maroon and black)

I wanted to keep the 90’s vibe to the look which proved to be more difficult than I realised. I struggled to find the perfect 90’s lip but finally landed on a combo that worked. Some of the shades I tried were (from left to right): NYX Espresso lip liner with Burberry Brown Sugar, NYX Soft Matte Lip Colour in Stockholm, NYX Espresso lip liner with NYX Soft Matte Lip Colour in London. I love how much you can vary a look by changing a lip colour.

I ended up going with the last lip combo of NYX Espresso lip liner with NYX Soft Matte Lip Colour in London patted in the centre. The dark lipliner/lighter lipstick combo is classic 90’s and fun to pull out for a look even though I wouldn’t wear it out anymore!

I skipped blush and just went with some light contouring on the cheekbones. I also darkened my brows more than usual. I’m not used to wearing so much eye makeup so my eyes hurt by the time it was time to take this all off but it was fun to try.

Dark eye makeup looks amazing on you! I like the third lip option the best 🙂

Thank you 🙂 I like how the dark eye makeup photographs but I feel weird walking around with it on in my daily life.

I realize that’s probably a shit-tonne more eyeshadow than you normally wear, but it looks so, so good! Like seriously, if I were you I’d make that my regular going-out eyeshadow look. It makes your eye colour stand out massively and somehow accentuates your eyebrows (which are great BTW), if that makes sense. Also your blending skills are off the hook, so that certainly doesn’t hurt 🙂

Thanks Crystal! I’m definitely not used to wearing this much makeup and I took your suggestion and wore it out the other day but I just felt very self conscious for some reason. I think I just feel more me when I wear my safe gold toned shadows 🙂
