Kardashian Beauty En-Joystick Lip Lacquers

Ok, I know you’re probably judging me a tiny bit when you saw the ‘Kardashian’ in the title but stick with me. I was browsing in Mecca on New Years Eve while my friend was getting her makeup done and decided to play with the range and these lipsticks (or lip lacquers as they refer to them) caught my eye purely because I was bored. I’m the last person who would really care to try anything with the infamous sisters attached but I was soon sold on these.

These En-Joystick (hate the name) lip lacquers are nicely pigmented lipsticks that come in long slim line bullets. The name lip lacquer is deceiving because you envision something liquid and glossy but these are most definitely not liquid and they’re not overly glossy, more of a satin finish. I love the slim bullets because they’re almost like a lip pencil which makes them really easy to apply- no lip brush needed!

I picked up 4 shades and don’t think I’ll go back for any of the others because the ones I picked probably work the best with my skin tone. I chose the three most intense shades, Retro Red (a bright orange), Rose Parade ( a red) and Shocking Pink (self explanatory I think!). I also bought Love Hangover which is a nude shade on me.

Love Hangover is a nudey-caramel shade with flecks of copper through it. It has a metallic sheen to it which gives it a very bronzey Kardashian-esque feel.

Some comparison swatches – (from left to right) Love Hangover, Burberry Copper Lip Mist, Revlon Brown Sugar Lip Butter, Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in Copper Charm. This shade looks like a mix between the Maybelline shade and the Revlon shade. I love pairing it with a very radiant makeup look.

Rose Parade is quite a neutral red which, to my eye, may lean slightly warm. I’ve been wearing this constantly and pairing it with some black liquid liner.

From left to right- Rose Parade, Chanel Rouge Coco in Gabrielle, Guerlain Rouge G in Garconne and Chanel Rouge Allure in Pirate. This is a lovely red and stacks up well against its high end counter parts.

Retro Red is a bright orange with a tiny hint of red in it. I love shades like these and think that they instantly brighten my complexion.

From left to right: Retro Red, MAC Scarlet Ibis, Nars Heatwave, Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in Neon Red. This shade is very similar to the MAC and NARS shade but I much prefer the texture of Retro Red with its satin finish compared to the semi matte finish of the other two.

Shocking Pink is a lovely bright blue based pink. It’s a fun summer shade and works well for day and night.

from left to right: Shocking Pink, MAC Girl about Town, Maybelline Color Sensational in Vivid Rose, Guerlain Rouge G in Gigi and NARS Schiap. I find blue based pinks slightly more difficult to wear compared to warm toned pinks but this shade is really easy because it doesn’t have too much blue in it.

I’ve been loving these lipsticks and have been wearing them constantly over the last 2 months. I find them so comfortable on the lips but that means that they’re not long lasting. I always wear mine over a lip liner and can get a good few hours wear without reapplying. After a few hours though, as with most lipsticks, I get some build up on my lips so I remove everything and exfoliate and then reapply. I’d recommend these and, at $15.95AUD/$8.99US, I think they’re a steal so go check them out!

Have you tried any of the Kardashian Beauty range before? What do you think?

Thank you! The comparison swatches take a while to do but I think they’re usually the most helpful 🙂

I’ve seen this line in a few places but haven’t tried anything at this point. Most likely because I haven’t heard too much about any of the products and I haven’t done any “research” on them yet. But they look very nice, all look great on you!

I was surprised that there wasn’t too much out there about these products but I’d definitely recommend them!
