An ‘Aha!’ Moment

This is going to sound superficial (wow, imagine that from a beauty blog!) but I had a revelation of sorts today as I was leaving for work. I got dressed, had one last look in the mirror and then went to walk out the door. That’s when I realised I wasn’t wearing any makeup and my (most recent) ‘Aha! moment’, as Oprah likes to say, was that I didn’t actually care! This may not seem like a big deal but it’s a little thing that showed me that I’ve come a really long way from where I used to be.

Here I am in my makeup free glory and I can honestly say, I don’t care!

There were quite a few years of my life that I spent covering myself in makeup because I hated the way I looked without it. I know that most of us feel better with a bit of makeup on but when it gets to a place where you use it because you hate what’s underneath, that is not a healthy place to be. I wish that I could go back with what I know now and talk to my younger self but I can’t so I’ve vowed instead to make this year the year I learn to get OK with me, the way I am.

What’s been one of your aha moments? I’d love to know so let me know below if you’d like.

Thanks Parita! I think most people look better without makeup then they think but it’s just letting yourself be without it that’s hard!
