2014 Blogging Resolutions

DSCd_1172

Another year and another set of resolutions! I always resolve to post more every year but as the fourth year of my blog quickly comes to an end, I really want to change the way I view my blog. This has always been a hobby of mine but I want to take it to the next level and bring more professionalism into the blog. Which brings me to my first resolution:

1. Plan, Plan, Plan!

I’ve always posted when the mood struck me and when I was feeling inspired. This can be great but the reality is that it’s led to inconsistent posting with some months full of posts and then others completely silent. That’s why I decided to start an editorial diary. I know there’s lots of great online editorial calendars but I like to write things down so I purchased a cute diary from Kikki K (pcitured above) and will be planning out posts in advance.

I went back over December and added in the posts I’ve already done and it really showed me at a quick glance what my frequency of posting is like. I’m hoping that by using this tool, I’ll be able to better monitor then types of posts I’m doing and manage my time in advance.

2. Get through the backlog!

Like a lot of beauty bloggers, I have so many posts that I haven’t gotten round to yet. I want to start clearing out a lot of the posts I have waiting to go and hopefully the step above will help with that. To help with this, I’m thinking of using a ‘beauty in-tray’ of products that have yet to be photographed or reviewed since I know this works for some other bloggers.

3.Get back to being a blog reader not just a blogger!

I used to be really loyal about reading other blogs and commenting and being a part of the bloggersphere. This changed once I moved from blogger to wordpress because that’s what I used to read the majority of my blogs. I’m going to finally take the step to use my Bloglovin’ account to follow my favourite blogs so I can get involved again and see what’s going on.

4. Use social media properly!

I have a Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram account all linked to my blog but I hardly ever tweet, forget to use my Pinterest and can’t remember my Instagram password. I do try to post on Facebook but there’s definitely room for improvement. I want to set up a minimum post frequency for all these accounts so that I’m fully using social media.

5. Improve my photographs!

I’m pretty happy with the photos on my blog but I know they can be better so I want to improve my photography skills and learn how to use a photo editing software such as Photoshop or GIMP 2.

I’m sure there’s lots of other things I can be doing but these are the 5 main blogging resolutions I have. If there are any different ones that you have, let me know below. Also, thanks for all your support over the last 4 years and I hope you’ll stick with me through this next year!
