Silver and Electric Blue Smokey EOTD

Most of the looks I post up are of my daily makeup but from time to time I get inspired to try out a look when I have no where to go. The other day when I was looking through my closet I came across this electric blue and silver sari. I’ve always loved the combination of the silver with the beautiful intense blue and it inspired me to try out a look incorporating both shades. Just as a side note, I very rarely match my makeup to my clothes as I prefer complimentary versus matching makeup.

I’ve been doing so many natural or subtle makeup looks so I thought it’d be fun to try out something more dramatic. The look is very smokey but with a pop of colour on the waterline and also in the crease. I thought the teal shade I used in the crease would end up pulling more blue than green so next time I’d probably use a bluer shadow in the crease or switch up the liner on the water line for a green liner.

What I used:

    • Too Faced Shadow Insurance all over the lid to prime and prevent creasing
    • MAC Blackground Paint Pot to act as a smokey base on the lid. I kept this away from the inner corners
    • Sugarpill Tiara Loose Pigment patted all over the lid
    • MAC Black Tied e/s on the outer corner
    • MAC Carbon e/s in the crease
    • MAC Stormwatch e/s in the crease to add the teal tint
    • MAC Steamy e/s to blend out the crease
    • MAC Electra e/s  to lighten the inner part of the lid
    • Milani Liquifeye liner in silver to outline the tear duct
    • Urban Decay 24/7 glide on liner in Electric on the lashline and waterline
    • Shiseido The Makeup Liquid liner in black to line the top lashline
    • Rimmel Scandaleyes mascara to coat both the top and bottom lashes

Since this look uses dark and colourful shadows, any fallout would ruin the skin so I left the foundation for last and finished the eyes off first. I like to balance out any makeup look I do so if I’m wearing dark or dramatic eyes, I like to keep the skin and lips more natural. I used Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup on my face and set it with some translucent loose powder by Laura Mercier. For the cheeks, I skipped blush and instead used the YSL Soleil d’Afrique bronzer to lightly contour and add warmth along the cheekbones. I went for a neutral lip and used a combination of Dior Addict lipstick in 333 Nude topped with Face of Australia Sheer Gloss Lip Crayon in Sundae.

What do you think of matching your makeup to your clothes?
