Mini Makeup Haul Courtesy of the Magazine Rack…

I shouldn’t admit this but whether I buy a magazine in any given month is directly related to what the free gift is. Some times I can go a few months in a row without buying a single magazine but other months I end up buying 4 magazines. Case in point, this month was big on the free gifts!

First up was the September Madison which I ended up buying 2 of so I could get the 2 available shades of Becca eye tints in Vicuna and Gilt. Gilt is a gorgeous warm bronze shade and Vicuna is a champagne shade. Both of these colour’s are beautiful and look great on the lids but these cream shadows excel as bases for any eye look. I usually have to layer a cream shadow over my Urban Decay Primer Potion to prevent creasing but I’ve been using these as a base on their own and they are exceptional! I wear these the whole day and not a single crease!

The October issue of Instyle comes with 2 different shades of Butter London nail polish. I picked up the peachy nude shade called Pink Ribbon. Pillar Box Red is the other available shade but I have way too many reds and not many nudes so that’s why I went for Pink Ribbon. This free gift coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Last but not least was this Avon Extra Lasting lipstick that came with the September issue of the Australian Women’s Weekly. Now AWW isn’t something I usually reach for because I’m a bit younger than their target audience but a free gift is a free gift! There’s three available shades and I picked up Vintage Pink. I thought this was going to be a mauve toned pink but this shade is actually a bright mid tone pinky coral. I usually avoid shade’s like this but the lack of frost or shimmer made this quite easy to pull off. The formula was also lovely and I can’t wait to try more from this range!
