Amber Rose inspired FOTD

I decided to go through my inspiration images folder tonight and try and recreate a look. I came across this image of Amber Rose from a Vibe magazine shoot and thought I’d give it a go as it works with the whole red lip thing I’m doing this month.

The colours in her look are really bright and I swear my look was brighter in person but I could not for the life of me get it to photograph properly! That being said, my look wasn’t as bright as the original even in person and probably came out a bit smokier than I meant it to.

To get the look I used mainly 2 colours, Sugarpill Afterparty and Sugarpill Poison Plum. I’ve reviewed them both before so click here to check out the review and swatches. Now, if you’re a long time reader of my blog then you’ll know that Afterparty is probably my favourite blue eyeshadow of all time so I always jump at the chance to use it in a look.

I used Afterparty on the mobile lid, Poison Plum in the outer v and crease, MAC Prussian eyeshadow to darken the crease and MAC Nylon eyeshadow in the inner corner. I finished up with Shiseido’s The Makeup liquid eyeliner and Rimmel Wow lash mascara.

The lip colour I’m wearing is the shade that’s part of my Day 3 Red Lip FOTD for Kiss Goodbye to MS (click here).  It’s NYX Plush Red lipliner topped with Korres Lip Butter in Mango.

Bright/dark eye makeup can be a bit much when paired with a bright lip so I also showed the look with neutral lips. I used Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle and I still think it’s the perfect neutral shade for my skin tone. Click here for review and swatches on the shade.

The colours are great together. I usually like nude lips, but for some reason I'm liking the brighter lips better with the look

Thanks Vonnie! I don't usually wear this shade of strawberry red but it's growing on me :)Saim: I really like how the colour work together as well. I know what you mean, usually I really dislike a bright lips with bright eye makeup but i don't mind this so much.
