I’ve been avoiding the MAC counter lately because I haven’t been very excited by any of the new collections that have been released. So imagine my suprise when I decided to stop by today for the first time in forever and saw new paint pots! It was basically a case of see, swatch, buy in a matter of seconds!
I love MAC paint pots! They may not be the best cream shadow out on the market but I think they’re pretty great and there’s rarely a day that goes by where I don’t use at least one of these beauties under my eyeshadows. My only pet peeve with them is the limited shade range and lack of exciting colours in the core collection. That’s why I’m always so excited when new colours are released and I’m lucky I stopped by when I did because I picked up the last of the Pure Creation Paint Pot at my local counter.
Pure Creation is a beautiful blue shade with tiny reflective shimmers running through it. It’s not too dark but not too light which is why I was drawn to it. I thought it would be the perfect blue base to use under lots of different blue toned looks.
The consistency of Pure Creation at the MAC counter was just gorgeous and it was really creamy and blendable. For some reason I’m not having the same result with the one I purchased but that could just be because it’s new. I found that there was a slightly waxy residue at the top of mine and I had to keep swatching it to get past this waxy layer.
Here are some swatches with Pure Creation swatched heavily on the left and lightly on the right.
I like this shade because you can definitely build up the colour and get a pretty opaque base happening without too much effort but you can just as easily tone it right down so you get a very sheer wash of colour.
I decided to see how Pure Creation would work as a base so I applied the darker blue side of MAC Sea & Sky Mineralize eyeshadow duo over the top. The swatch on the left is Sea & Sky on its own, the swatch in the middle is Sea & Sky over a heavy appliction of Pure Creation and the swatch on the left is Sea & Sky over a light application of Pure Creation.
I love how it itensifies the colour and gives it a lot of depth. It also definitely helps the eyeshadow apply more evenly.
oh my, this is so pretty.love, rach. http://www.so–hi.blogspot.com
I was also disappointed in the range of colours available for paint pots. This has changed my mind. I'm going to have to check out the other new colours because this one looks awesome!
these blues are driving me crazy!! They're so pretty!! I don't even know if this has been released here yet. I've been avoiding the malls hehe.
I swatched all of these the other day too, am in love. Was rushing to the cinema so didn't get to buy any though:( Am going to buy some this week, I do love my paint pots
It is Rach! You should check it out :)Sarah: I don't know why MAC doesn't have a few brighter colours in their core range. I definitely think there's a market for it. I just picked up Half-Wild as well which is beautiful purple shade. You should definitely go check them out :)Aseya: Lol sometime avoidance is the best way to make sure you don't spend! Especially if you have zero will power like me! Emma: Can't wait to see what you get!
