Chanel Genie Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss: Alladin would have been lucky to get this from his lamp!

Chanel continues to entice me with its beautiful lip products and I’ve been working my way through all their formulations of lipstick and glosses to find out which are my favourites. So far my lipstick of choice is Chanel’s Rouge Allure Laque and I think the gloss choice front runner is currently Chanel’s Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss. I purchased it in the shade ‘Genie’ and this name is well deserved because this stuff is pure magic.

It comes in this gorgeous sleek packaging which is just like a longer version of the Rouge Allure Laque.

It has a doe foot applicator but this one is unique as far I can tell as it has a bit of an unusual shape.

You can see that instead of being rounded in any way, this applicator is flat on both sides and looks triangular. I’m sure a lot of research went into picking this particular shape but all I can say is that it applies the product well and I actually prefer it over a traditional doe foot.

The shade Genie is this beautiful peach shade with tiny shimmers running through it. It looks really orange in person and looks really orange when first applied but then it kind of melds with your lips to become this beautiful natural shade.

Bare Lips:

Chanel Genie applied:

Yes it does settle into the lines in my lips but that’s not a deal breaker for me like it is for some people. I only worry about a lip product doing that if it’s a very bright or dark shade but for something as sheer as this, I think you really only notice in major close up’s such as the one above. In person the result is not noticeable at all:

I highly recommend this shade and this formulation because it’s really moisturising and not sticky at all. The wear time is not very long since it’s a gloss but I can still get at least a good hour out of it if I’m not eating or drinking. It’s just a really easy shade to wear and works well with dark smokey looks as well as with light and pretty spring looks so check it out!

The only drawback for me is the price (around $37 US from memory) but I love it and I think it was worth the splurge.

Have you tried any of these glosses before? What are your thoughts on them? Also, what other shades from the range would you recommend because you know I’m already eyeing some more πŸ˜‰
