Blogging from another country

I’ve been a bit quiet on the blogging front over the last few days because I was in the process of packing and then travelling to Sri Lanka. I’m here because my grandma’s condition recently deteriorated but now that I’m here it seems like she’s a lot better.

She amazes me with her will to live. She’s 95 years old and, even though she has withered away to nothing but skin and bones and spends her time living in the past, her personality still seeps through in little moments here and there. My great grandma apparently lived until she was 102 so, for my own selfish reasons, I hope she makes it that long even though I know she’s had an amazing life.

I’ve only been in Sri Lanka for about 3 days and this is only the second time I’ve visited Sri Lanka as an adult (the last time was 10 years ago) but I am always surprised by how much I love this country. I’ve never really related to being Sri Lankan while living in Australia but the moment I’m here, it definitely feels like home.

This trip was very last minute so I didn’t have enough time to set up any auto-posts or ask for posts from guest bloggers. This means that posting over the next 3 1/2 weeks that I’ll be away may be quite infrequent but I’m going to make every effort post regularly.

The weather here is extremely hot and humid so I’ve had to give up on thoughts of any makeup for now. I also haven’t brought a lot of eyeshadow’s so I can’t do any EOTD’s. That being said, I haven’t ventured out and explored the cosmetic options here so hopefully I can find some interesting products to show you.

I’ll leave you for now with some pictures that I’ve taken from my trip so far. I’ve had to resize them and make them smaller as the file sizes are too big to upload otherwise.

Oh that squirrel made me giggle! πŸ™‚ These pictures are gorgeous! Sorry to hear about your grandmother, but I'm glad she's doing better!! I'm sure your visit has influenced that. We lost my grandmother in December and it was the most awful thing I've ever had to go through. I'm pretty sure the Sri Lankan culture is like the Arab culture in the sense that it's very family oriented, and grandmothers are always at the center of that. I wish you and your grandmother an incredibly long life! May she live to be 150! πŸ™‚

Thanks Aseya. I've been fascinated by all the animals that run around here that people that live here don't even notice anymore. I'm sorry to hear about your Grandma 😦 I'm torn between hoping she lives longer to hoping that she gets some peace soon because she seems like she's in pain. The cultures are very similar in that way and it's sad to see such an important figure reduced to how she is now. xxThanks Luxiehoney πŸ™‚ Thanks so much Celina for the sweet comment πŸ™‚ Thanks Jen, she is an amazing woman :)It is gorgeous Kayleigh, I just wish that women weren't so invisible here! Thanks for your comment :)Thanks achowchow! I can't wait to see you. It feels like I haven't seen you in forever and I think a bm bonding session is long overdue although I think you need to rethink the name πŸ™‚ xxLol thanks Hawks πŸ˜‰ She's definitely a fighter. We come from strong genes xx
