Pixiwoo’s Crystal Renn inspired look

I adore Pixiwoo’s videos but especially those by Sam. There’s something so mesmerising about watching her apply makeup because she’s so elegant but seems very down to earth. She makes every look she does seem easy but this look in particular is actually easy because she really only uses one eyeshadow. Check out the video first because I used the techique exactly as she has in this video.

The look is based off pictures of Crystal Renn from a shoot for Muse Magazine. I felt a bit funny posting this first picture of her smoking a cigarette but it’s the picture that captures the look the best.

Sam did the look with the red lip but you can see by this last picture that the eye is easily paired with a natural or nude lip. Sam used MAC Mystery eyeshadow which is a very dark cool toned brown which I don’t have so I had to improvise. I mixed MAC Embark eyeshadow (dark warm brown) with MAC Print eyeshadow (dark grey) but it still came out quite warm. Sam also uses top and bottom fake lashes very similar to those used on Crystal Renn but I didn’t have any that were similar enough so I skipped that step.

To get this look I used:
MAC Warm Light Shape Powder all over eye from lid to brow bone
MAC Embark and Print eyeshadow mixed through the socket line, outer v and bottom lashline and then smudged across whole lid
MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack smudged across top lashline
Covergirl Lashblast Fusion on top and bottom lashes
MAC Chromographic Pencil in NW25/NC30 on waterline

So obviously my version didn’t come out as great as Sam’s but it was fun to do. The key with this look is blending and I don’t think I blended anywhere near enough. You also need a cool toned brown because they tend to look more sophisticated than a warm toned brown because your eyes will look like they’re contoured rather than coloured. If you want to go for the type of red lip that Crystal is wearing in the first picture than NARS Heatwave lipstick is perfect as it has the right amount of orange and red through it.
