Bronzed Penny Eye Look

One of my friends is getting married in a week and I’ve been trying to decide what makeup to wear to her wedding. It’s summer in Australia at the moment so I thought I’d try a coppery/bronzey eye with a pop of green on the lower lashline. I figured it’s a safe way to wear a bright colour without going too over the top. The end result turned out looking quite neutral on my skin tone (except for the green) because my skin tone is very similar to the eyeshadows I used. Even though it’s not a dramatic look, I think using shimmery shadows in colours that are very close to your own skin colour results in a really polished and put together look. It evens out any discolouration on the lid and adds a bit of dimension.

Here’s what I used:

NYX Jumbo eye pencil in Bronze all over the lid and just up to the crease
MAC Texture eyeshadow in the crease to warm it up a bit
MAC Brown Script eye shadow in the crease to darken it
MAC Concrete eye shadow in the crease to add a bit of dimension
Bobbi Brown Metallic eye shadow in Penny all over the lid just up to the crease
MAC Soft Brown eye shadow to blend out the crease
MAC Embark eye shadow on outer v
MAC Tan Pigment on inner corner
MAC Flip eye shadow on inner corner
MAC Ricepaper eye shadow as brow bone highlight
Darkest green shadow from the Chi Chi loose shadows quad on the lower lash line stopping two thirds of the way
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on eye pencil in Lucky (copper) on first third of lower lashine
Urban Decay 2/7 glide on eye pencil in Corrupt (chocolate brown) on waterline
Savvy by DB liquid liner in dark brown on top lashline
Covergirl Lashblast Fusion mascara on top and bottom lashes

I doubt I’ll end up wearing this look to the wedding but I’ll definitely wear it out somewhere during this summer with bronzed cheeks and some clear gloss. I paired the look with a deeper more forest type green to tone down the look but a neutral eye like this works with any bright pop of colour on the lower lash line. The colours I used will work really nicely with tanned to deep skin tones but I’d probably stay away from them if you have very pale skin or are very cool toned as they’re all on the warm side with very orange undertones.

Very pretty! Love the subtle pop of color.

Thanks 🙂 I was hoping the colours would have contrasted more with my skin colour but I like it anyway for an everyday look.
