Happy New Year (and nails)!

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a safe and fun new years eve and are ready for 2011.

I’ve already mentioned how I love matching my nailpolish to whatever the occasion is so of course I had to go with silver glitter nails for New Years eve. I used 2 coats of OPI DS Radiance which is part of OPI’s designer series (hence the DS in the name) and is basically a very shiny foil like silver. I topped it off with two coats of Deborah Lippmann’s Today was a fairytale nailpolish. I love this colour! It’s a sheer cornflower blue/grey base with both small round glitter flecks and bigger hexagonal silver glitter pieces.

The OPI nail polish on its own is a very bright silver but the Deborah Lippmann polish on top toned down the brightness slightly and added the pretty glitter. I think the final result was very space agey and definitely very New Years appropriate. I was getting compliments on this combo the whole week I was wearing it so check them out if you’re on the hunt for a good silver look. I will say that the even though the Lippmann polish is pretty on its own, because the base is so sheer I do prefer to layer it over something else. I think it would look awesome on top of a light grey or sky blue nail polish.
